The Last Day!

Long time no see my blogging buds. How are you? How are things?

I have been focusing on my work recently as I approach my final day of placement. Apologies for my absence. If you have been with me since I started this journey you’ll know that I have been working for a year now within my industry as part of my university course. If not then go back and read my other posts c’mon!

So…my last day is fast approaching and then I am free for 3 months to do as I please…(within reason).

What would you do if you had 3 months absolutely free at your disposal?

One of my main plans is to get back into the gym and do a bit of swimming in the hope of getting back in shape ready for the start of university again. I am someone who suffers from hyper mobility/hyper extension of the joints or the slang term, ‘double jointed’. This has limited my ability and performance when it comes to training in the gym. If you don’t know what this is, I’ll briefly explain as simply as I can. So like the name states, I have more mobility in my joints than that of a ‘regular’ person. For example, I am able to bend my thumb all the way back to touch my arm, and when I stand If I push my knees backwards my legs will curve as if I’m facing the wrong way. This may look cool and be a little party trick to show your friends, but it can be quite painful at times. I am unable to squat due to my knee becoming weaker making it almost impossible to push myself back up. Obviously this is dangerous with a big weight on my shoulders so I try to avoid that.

However, I am interested and excited to adapt my work outs so I can work just as hard to achieve the best results. One thing I refuse to do is give up and become lazy. Adaptability is essential in all walks of life which has been more than apparent to me this year. From working full-time to tackling my health hurdles, I have made it to the end and given myself the best opportunity and boost in my career. Now I can focus on my life in a different way and I look forward to seeing how I can be the best version of myself.

Hurdles come in a variety of heights, sometimes they get bigger before we reach the end, but finding your way over them is a process well worth putting your all into.

Who is looking forward to the bank holiday on Monday?…


Not only do I get a free day off, but I’ve also snuck in two more days off, so a five-day weekend is heading my way (internally screaming).  Does my boss know I’m not in? No…Am I looking forward to his reaction when he realises I’m not at my desk? Hell yes (even though I won’t be there to see it…shh).

What are your plans for the bank holiday weekend? 

How many of you are always up for trying the latest diet trends?

How many of you feel like you’re constantly on a diet?

How many of you feel like giving up because you’ve tried everything, but nothings working?

Let me ask you this then…are you being completely honest with yourself?

I have been trying to stay healthy and make good lifestyle choices, but in my mind I know I could’ve been that little bit better. I can empathise with how difficult it can be to find foods that are interesting and tasty. No matter how many products are brought out onto our supermarket shelves and make health benefit claims, they always seem a bit too green for me…not very appealing.

What’s the next step?

For some people, the gym is not an option, but if it is, then even by going once or twice a week it 1. is more than you were doing before and 2. is a great starting point to build up from. If you hate the thought of sweating and working out in front of people then I highly recommend connecting your computer to your TV or getting the YouTube app on your TV. Why? The amount of exercise videos on there are insane. There’s no need for you to go out and buy one of these cringe DVD’s made my a ‘celebrity’ that used a PT to get fitter.

What do I recommend?

I personally, from experience find that HIIT work outs are the most effective.

HIIT is a training technique which involves intense bursts of high-intensity exercise followed by varied periods of low-intensity active rest, or complete rest. HIIT can be a great option for staying in shape when time is an issue, as you can get an amazing fat-burning workout in 20 minutes or less.

So, if you want to get great results from only a short work out, then this is the one for you. I have been doing the Joe Wicks (Body Coach) one which is available on YouTube.

Don’t feel bad about having a cheat day!

Everyone needs a balanced diet to function. Depriving yourself of the foods that contain higher fat percentages is actually more likely to make you gain weight when you may have them in the future. Maintenance is key! Having a day where you eat some ‘bad’ foods keeps your body used to digesting them. Remember, calories are your energy source, cutting them low and limiting your intake is damaging.

I have a cheat day every Saturday because it’s the first day I’m not at work so there’s nothing to distract me from snacking…unless I’m shopping. Allowing myself this day then curbs my cravings for sugary, fatty, salty treats. Do I feel better for it? Yes actually, I don’t get that guilt after eating a doughnut, or half a bar of chocolate because of the good work I’ve done all week.


Moral: If you feel like there’s no where left to turn, go back a few steps and see what could be changed to alter your path ahead!

Success…I’m Coming for You

So let’s do something to boost it back up!

What have I been doing to regain my drive for success?

Well, nothing too difficult actually. One main thing I have discovered that has really pushed me is a certain TV program. I’ve found that a lot of entrepreneurial shows are emerging recently and I’m loving it!

This particular one is called ‘Buy It Now’. The concept allows regular people like you and me to pitch a product they have invested their time and money in to create. For example, last nights episode showed a young woman who is a teacher. Her product was a non-slip fabric inner sole which supports both the back and base of your foot preventing blisters. She stands on a stage in front of 100 shoppers who have a light above their heads, if they like what they see and hear then they can turn that light green to show they’re interested.

As long as the entrepreneur still has one light left on after the price of the product is revealed, then they move onto talking to some investors of large corporations, for example, JML. So this particular woman had 40 green lights left on and went further to receive 25,500 orders from the investors. Overall, she managed to secure £225,000 in retail value of her products which is absolutely life changing.

One of the many goals I have in life is to create something everyone will love and appreciate like this. At the beginning of my year out working I was always thinking about what could be that next big idea, but the last few months I faded out of that a little bit. So, yesterday I decided to give myself a little pep talk, NO, I have to stick at this and make it my success!

How have I turned this into my motivation?

I have many notebooks, if you have been with me from the start of my blogging you will know this. In my ‘general notes’ book I began to think of problems that need solving in our every day lives, or hindrances to people. For me, this is a great way to get my creative juices flowing and come up with some cool, never seen before products. When I go back to university, I plan to take my ideas one step further and begin to make at least one a reality, so the time I spend planning everything now is vital.

For anyone who wants to do something like this, I promise you, you can do it, there’s no reason for you not to. We can always find a way to achieve what we want. Alongside studying for my final year at university I hope to have a finished or close to finished product ready to go and prove to everyone that you can be any age, at any point in your life to start something new and exciting. Why not be ambitious and start today?

What is a Waist Trainer?

If you didn’t see my first guest post yesterday, find it here. I am on a few journeys to achieve various goals in life and one I have always struggled with is my weight. You know when you look back at your old self and wish you still looked like that, but when you did look like that you didn’t like the way you looked? That sums up my experience so far. I would describe myself as one of the fussiest eaters in the world so I particularly struggle with finding meals that are healthy as well as filling I would like…don’t we all.

One way I do boost my work outs however is by using a waist trainer. I received a comment yesterday about not knowing enough information about them as a whole. However, if you would also like to know more about them, please visit a previous post I made where I explain this. Find it here.

Guest Post – Waist Trainer UK

Today I present to you my first guest post. I have been going back and forth with Gemma who is a mum to two children and has recently changed career from accountancy to internet marketing. She runs Waist Trainer UK and writes a blog as ‘Mummy’s Waisted’, which features family life and small business hacks.

If you didn’t know, I have been on my own path to becoming healthier, fitter, slimmer, toned…and the rest. When I train I like to wear a waist trainer to enhance my work outs and give me the shape I desire. However, mine is coming to the end of its life and I don’t have a clue how to go about finding a new one. Gemma has kindly written a post for us all to help anyone who is in the same boat as me.

How To Choose a Waist Trainer

If you’re new to waist training, or looking for a new product to try, the range of options can seem intimidating. Here’s our tips to help you pick the right one for you:

Body Shape

Waist trainer brands do vary in terms of sizing, and the body length of the garment. So it’s really important that you measure yourself properly, and honestly, and check out the individual manufacturer sizing guidelines. Measure over and under your bust, around your waist and at the top of your hips, and record your measurements in both centimetres and inches.

If you are under 5’4 then Ann Chery is a good brand to try as they do come out shorter. If you are very petite, it may be more comfortable to get a waist trimmer belt as these are much narrower. Check for one which has integrated boning so that you get a similar effect to a waist trainer.

If you are tall, most brands do offer a ‘longer torso’ option (try BVOO). If you have a full bust, it may be more comfortable to choose a waist training vest with adjustable straps, as this will provide more support. Look for ‘wear your own bra’ styles though, so that you’re not too squashed in (check out FeelinGirl).


Think about what you are trying to achieve with your waist trainer. If you want to lose more than a couple of inches from your waist, choose a style that has three rows of hook and eye fastenings, rather than two rows. This means that you can cinch in more and more.

If you are looking for comfort rather than inch loss, a cincher may be a better option as they don’t have the steel boning. A waist trimmer without boning is another one to try if you’re looking for inch loss; these create a ‘stomach sauna’ as you exercise to increase perspiration.


The standard number of steel bones in a waist trainer is nine, although there are some brands which offer a 25 bone option for maximum compression and inch loss (the Yianna black latex waist trainer for example).

If you are going to wear your waist trainer mostly to boost your exercise plan, there are plenty of sporty workout styles available in bold colours. Alternatively, you can find waist trainers in bright or patterned fabrics such as the Ann Chery animal print version. If you want to be discreet, there are plenty of plain options available.

Be prepared to have to hand wash your waist trainer, and dry it away from a direct heat source – on an airer rather than a radiator.

Surprises and…Surprises?

Good morning fellow bloggers!

I’m going to set the mood with a few things that have been going on in my life recently.

To begin, last week I was given some of the worst news I think I’ve ever heard in my life so far…One of my family members has been diagnosed with cancer. I have never really been faced with hearing this word before, but I can tell you it is one of the most cutting. For a few days I obviously had to let my emotions out and come to terms with what is actually happening and going to happen.

I felt like all hope was lost and I didn’t know how I was going to cope with this. However, I’ve gathered my thoughts and tried to keep calm so I can maintain a positive attitude. One of the easiest things to do in this situation is to shut yourself away, but it’s also one of the worst. Having people around to support you, people who are sometimes going through or have experienced the same thing are more than willing to help you through such a tough time.

Today my said family member is going in for an operation to hopefully improve their quality of life, extend their life and get them back on track again. Every inch of me is crossed for them and I remain positive, yet realistic.

Anyway, I had to let that out so now onto some good news…

Next week I have 7 days off work for my boyfriends 21st birthday which I am buzzing for. The best thing is that I’ve booked a surprise for him which he has no clue as to what it may be. He’s one of these people who is so easily pleased you could give him a lemon and he’d be thankful for it. To be honest, he may even pass out when he finds out what we’re doing.


If you want to know what it is too then you’ll just have to wait until April for me to talk about it…sorry not sorry.

Not only do I get a break, but it’s also pay day for me next week which takes us to the end of March already…where has 2018 gone already?! This week needs to fly by so I can take my mind off work and focus on eating and drinking nice things (within my diet).

3000 Blog Hits!

Good morning fellow bloggers!

So a few days ago I surpassed 3000 hits on my blog site page. WOW OH MY GOD! I’ve never seen a figure like that on any of my social media pages (the ones you don’t know about). All these milestones are actually amazing and to be honest, I can’t believe that many people have even clicked to visit my page.

One of my aims is to be as open as possible and I do that by being myself and literally writing what I’m thinking (mostly, otherwise I’d probably be removed). A strange concept for someone who is anonymous right? Being more personal in my writing feels so good, it’s like I keep all of these thoughts silent from the people close to me, but let them run wild on my little space here to complete strangers.

Yesterday I had a little conversation with a blogger who has just celebrated their bloggaversary (don’t judge me for that spelling). I won’t mention them, but I want to quickly say this. They seemed very down about only just having reach 100 followers. I understand how important the stats and figures are to us bloggers and I think we’ve all sat there at one point willing those numbers to rise. However, they really aren’t the be all and end all. If you write passionately, structurally aesthetic and communicate with the right audience then the support comes naturally. Everyone’s story is different and I understand that, but be persistent, passionate and persevere. THE 3 P’s! I’ve just made my own little remembery thingy (technical term).

Where was I….

Oh yes, I think what I’m trying to say is do not give up. I try to respond to all of my comments and if anyone would like any advice, motivational chats or anything along those lines, please comment on this post or find me on Twitter because I’m more than happy to talk to any of you!

Weight Loss Journey!

Is anyone else in a really good mood today?…no, just me?…okay then…

Post number 2 today, here we are. Tonight I am heading back to the gym after completely destroying my legs on the step machine over the weekend. The last time I went with my brother I climbed slowly off of the equipment and nearly wobbled myself down to the ground.

Now I know no one knows my true identity/appearance, but I’m not one of these girls who wears a little crop top and shorts so that all eyes are on me. NO! I would much rather wear a gym t-shirt, some leggings and sweat my little heart out without being judged. One of my gym must haves however is my trusty waist trainer.

What is a waist trainer? 

A waist trainer is a corset like belt that is generally hooked, zipped or Velcro’d up to cinch in your waist and tighten your tummy. Here is an example:

What does a waist trainer do? 

Waist training is the process of reducing your natural waist size and accentuating curves with the aid of waist trainer or a tight laced corset. These garments are responsible for giving a woman an exaggerated hourglass figure, which is a tiny waist and curves over the hips. A lot of people wear these in the gym because it allows for your stomach area to sweat more than the rest of your body meaning you shed the pounds quicker. Do not be fooled though, it’s not only women who use these…I know a few males who are partial to wearing one (MAN POWER!).

Is this a healthy way to aid losing weight?

There has been a lot of controversy around this product. I think it depends on your opinion of them and whether or not you are comfortable enough to wear one. Many people argue that it is not safe to ‘crush’ your organs and ‘squeeze’ your bones together. In my opinion this is a little dramatic and my confidence sky rockets when I wear mine. However, this is not the only thing that you should look for when trying to slim down, obviously diet is one of the most important aspects.

I’m currently looking for a new waist trainer because mine has been lets say ‘well-loved’. For anyone who is interested I will post about my progress and leave links to my potential future purchases.

I know this may seem like a bit of a random post, but one of the topics I hope to cover more of is my success across the board which includes my weight loss journey.

1000 Blog Likes!

Good morning fellow bloggers!

So yesterday I woke up to see this little notification on my page. All I can say is….WOW OMG THANK YOU EVERYONE I LOVE YOU SO MUCH!…Now that I’ve got that out my system I actually cant believe the support I’ve received on my blog. Even though I would still consider myself to be a small site, for me, this is an achievement.


I’ve recently hit a few milestones (in my mind) across my blog and social media for my blog. So on Twitter, I’m not quite there, but I’m just a few followers away from reaching 300! Since I first started my Twitter page for my blog at the end of January to now, I feel like I have really thrown myself into the blogging world and am loving finding my second family!

The other week I also reached 200 followers on word press. I am very aware that there are bloggers who started their sites around the same time as me and have a greater following. However, as an anonymous blog I wasn’t able to start with a basis (my personal social media accounts) and have built this up from scratch without promoting myself through myself….if that makes sense. For all those out there who are feeling a bit low about their stats, then please do not fret. If you put the effort in then you will certainly reap the rewards…I promise!

Anyway…I am loving the support from every single one of you and I look forward to where I can take my blog. Please get in touch and spread the love to new and old bloggers we build ourselves together!

The Average Aspirant

Good afternoon fellow bloggers!

I hope everyone on the same nugget of land as me (England) is safe and warm in this snowy blanket that is falling in millions of little pieces…dramatic I know.

I also hope everyone who isn’t close by is well and safe!


Anyway I’m going to talk about why and how I chose my blogging name for anyone who is curious!

How long did it take for me to come up with this name?

Not going to lie to you, it took me a few minutes. You know when you go into a shop and see something you like then say to yourself ”I might find something else in another place that I like more”, but end up going back in the first shop to get it anyway. That’s how I felt about my blogging name. I knew that if I even tried to think of a different name that I would always prefer the first one I came up with.

How did I think of such a name?

To begin with I knew I was going to use the word ‘average’ because that was the message I was going to be sending out to everyone…I’m just your average Homosapien. Then I went onto the trusty online thesaurus where I searched for way more interesting words that meant ambitious. Not only was ‘Aspirant’ the perfect word for me, but who doesn’t love a bit of alliteration?

Why did I choose this name in particular?

My aim is to portray to everyone that I am simply an average young person like many others out there who has big dreams that I’m not afraid to go after. The word aspirant is self-explanatory, but for those of you who don’t know:

  • Aspirant (Noun) : someone who very much wants to achieve something and has ambitions higher than the highest mountains.

Naturally, I put the two words together and BAM! Here I am today ladies and gentlemen.

So there you have it everyone, a little insight into the beginnings of my blogging journey. It may not be the most interesting way of picking a name, I didn’t battle any dragons, I didn’t travel the world in 80 days and I definitely didn’t win a boxing match with AJ. However, like my name I’m average so I’ve lived up to it so far…I think!
